SPECIAL 1/2 DAY PORGY TRIPS THURS 7/26 8AM-12:30PM & 1:30PM-6PM
Tough fishing this weekend was not much to talk about. managed a couple keepers each trip and some moderate action on the shorts. We are trying different areas between the Bay and the Ocean hoping to locate a new body of fluke. Monday was more of the same though we had a couple nice keepers including Tommy's 5 lb fluke, with the dogfish and shorts keeping anglers busy. Improvement on afternoon trip, but still not great. Tommy stole the show again this afternoon with 2 more nice fluke. Left the dock on Wed with some strong winds out of the north so we checked out some new spots based on the prevailing conditions and picked away at some quality fish all morning. Fishing was never super, but by the end of the trip we had a decent catch. Headed out in the afternoon to the same area where we left the fish in the morning, but there was very little drift. Stuck it out for a bit, throwing a couple of keepers in the boat. Checked out a new area late afternoon and was glad we did as the 1st drift was good with several anglers getting 2 keepers. So went back up on the drift and caught a couple more nice fluke by the end of the trip. John was a big hit with his limit and the pool fluke.

Wednesday morning we had most of our Wednesday regulars and they enjoyed good action on the shorts with some nice keepers mixed in. Had to work for the fish, but we put some nice fluke in the boat. The afternoon trip was more of the same with a pick of keepers. Thursday was okay for the most, including Adrian who put on a clinic today with 2 fluke at 5 lbs each to go along with about 20 shorts. Sometimes old school bait fishing is the way to go, watch and see what is working each day. Friday morning was by far our best trip of the season so far. We fished in one of the local channels and pounded away on both tides. Had a slight lull during slack tide, but that was the only slow point of the trip. Awesome fishing, Awesome catching and all went home with fluke. Afternoon was slow, could not go to the ocean as conditions were not right. Out today, but not much to report, a few keepers and some short action on both trips. Tomorrow is a new day and a new adventure. We are chartered in the morning but open for the 1:30 pm trip.

SAT. 7/7 update
We have been having a lot of issues with the website the last couple of weeks, but I think it is "all good" now. So many trips since the last report that it is difficult to recall each trip. The last week of June, most but not all, trips were good to decent with anglers landing some nice quality fluke along with the action on the shorts. a couple of trips were good with not only quality fish but !most anglers aboard going home with keeper fluke. Some notable catches and/or pool fish were Adrian 4lb. Paul 6 lbs, Ed 4lbs Fred 6.5lbs, Bob 7 lbs. Probably the best trip of the season was Wednesday, where anglers had not only quality fish but also quantity. There were trips with several anglers had their limits and tons of shorts mixed in. And then there were a couple of trips that were so horrible and no matter how hard I tried, nothing! All in all, the month of June saw decent catching of keepers and a good amount of action on the shorts.
The first weekend in July got off to a slow start, good crowds in the morning and light crowds in the afternoon as we were having a heat wave. Conditions were less than favorable and the drift was next to none, yet we put together a decent catch of keepers. The big surprise of Saturday's afternoon trip was Deb' s 37 inch cobia (uncommon to our local waters), what a fight it gave her, but she got the job done and brought it into the boat. Deb and husband Herb had some "good eating" for dinner. Monday the heat continued and the drift was non-existent until the end of the morning trip, where we managed to put a few quality fluke onto the deck, with Allison getting the pool with a 4 pounder. The afternoon saw a big improvement with a nice southeast breeze making us nice and cool as well as a much better drift. Good action all afternoon with Lance leading the way 2 nice keepers and 15 shorts. Tues am trip started slow but improved as the morning went on and we put together a decent catch with the big one being 7 lbs. Afternoon saw a light crowd and not much action, but it was nice and cool on the water. Only made the morning trip on the 4th and it was a struggle to put together a catch, but once again it was much more comfortable on the water than on land.. Worked hard Thursday morning but only managed a handful of keepers for the nice crowd aboard. The afternoon saw a drastic improvement, fished very close to home and were able to stay on the drift for a good amount of time ending with most anglers going home with keepers. Friday, the rain and forecast kept the anglers away, but made the afternoon trip with a nice group and managed a few keepers. Sat am we started close to home and picked away on decent sized fluke for a couple of drifts and then it died. Made a move to the west and got a few more keepers every drift, Geno had the pool with a 5 pound fluke caught right before the whistle. I don't even want to talk about the afternoon, what a struggle, only a couple of shorts and dogfish, but no keepers, Ugh! But tomorrow is new day and a new fishing adventure.

Sun left the dock with another nice group of anglers on a beautiful day. Fishing was picky with very little drift but those who kept working all day were rewarded. Kat and Kieran had 2 nice fluke, Kat took the pool. The afternoon was slow for most aboard except for young Ave who landed 2 keepers including the pool fish. Great job Ava! Another good group on Monday and started with decent conditions and picked a few keepers, then the drift died and so did the fishing. All in all, a tough morning. Light crowd on the afternoon trip, but the drift was better and so was the fishing. Paul led the way with his limit of nice fluke, Tom and Sue had 3 nice fluke between them and Tom took the pool with a hefty 6 pounder. Left the dock Tues morning with another good group and good start to the trip with 2 fish over 6.5 lbs. boated on the first 2 drifts. Slugged away all morning until we lost the drift and managed to put a good catch together by then. The afternoon trip was a pick throughout, not lights out fishing, but caught a couple keepers each drift. Jay took the PM pool with 4.5 pound fluke

Good fluking continued on Wed on both morning and afternoon trips with many anglers going home with 2 keepers and all aboard took fluke filets home. Frank took the morning pool with a 6 pound fluke and Rich had the afternoon at 5 pounds. Thursday was a tough day with only a few keepers on both trips. Despite the tough conditions on Friday, we put together a decent catch on both trips, nothing compared to earlier in the week, however anglers boated some quality fish. Sheana had the morning pool with a 4 lb fluke. At the dock on Sat. but shut down for the day with the weather and lack of angler participation. Sunday, with a good gang aboard, and beautiful weather started out great on the first drift with a load of shorts along with quality keepers. Went back on the drift and continued to pick away until the wind died down and we lost the drift and the action. Out in the afternoon with slightly better conditions, but the fish were not biting, but it was a beautiful day to be on the water.
