AUGUST 15, 2018 UPDATE

CHARTERED FRIDAY 8/17 8 AM TRIP    OPEN ON 1:30 PM TRIP

1/2 DAY PORGY & SEA BASS MONDAYS & TUESDAYS    1/2 DAY FLUKE WED-SUN.

Last week's Fluke trips saw a lot of action on most trips, but keepers were hard to come by. A lot of fish at 16-17 inches that had to be released, but "it is what it is". Monday's porgy and sea bass trip was back on target as the good group of anglers who ventured out in the rain were rewarded with plenty of fish, mostly porgies, a few triggers and some nice sea bass. At the dock in the afternoon as there was a lack of angler participation and the afternoon was much drier than the morning. Tuesday morning saw an all out mad dog bite on the porgies with most anglers catching as many as they wanted. Again a couple of trigger fish and a few nice sea bass. The afternoon trip was not as good as the morning, but it still was a success. Anglers who stuck it out were rewarded, all aboard had a blast and everyone went home with a nice bag of fillets. This morning, Wed, we headed out to a rolly bay for our Fluke trip, as soon as we got around the Hook into the Ocean, we were greeted by flat calm seas. Anglers enjoyed constant action with skates, sharks, sea robins and some really nice keeper fluke. Lou took the pool with a nice 4.5 lb fluke. Light crowd this afternoon and hoping to repeat the  morning's fishing. The summer is winding down and before you know it the chill will be in the air. 1/2 day fishing is a great way to spend quality time with your friends and family, so get everyone together, pack the cooler and climb aboard.

AUGUST 8 UPDATE

1/2 DAY PORGY & SEA BASS EVERY MON & TUES    1/2 DAY FLUKE  WED-SUN

Last week's porgy and sea bass trips were total success, however this Mon & Tues trips were not a repeat. We did a lot of searching, made numerous drops and could only come up with a few porgies and sea bass. I know anglers were disappointed as many of them had been out last year, last week or had read the great reports. Fishing is fishing and you never know what the day will bring, but one thing you can be sure of and that is we put in the effort on every trip. Fluke fishing has been quite slow on the keepers for the past few weeks even though there has been action on the shorts. This morning, Wed. 8/8 there was an improvement in the keepers with a nice 7.5 lb fluke as well as a few other keepers coming over the rail. The heat has been oppressive on land, but there is a cool light breeze on the water. Every trip is a new adventure, so join us.

SAT 7/28 UPDATE

CHARTERED SUNDAY 7/29 FOR 8 AM TRIP       OPEN 1:30 PM TRIP

1/2 DAY PORGIES & SEA BASS  MONDAYS & TUESDAYS

1/2 DAY FLUKE WEDNESDAY-SUNDAY

What a week, between the actual rain and the forecasts, anglers were in short supply.  Sailed on Tuesday with a few anglers, and looked for areas out of the wind. We caught a ton of fluke inside our Bay and had a few keepers mixed in. The 1st drift was the best and picked away the rest of the trip. Plenty of action on all the shorts, one angler had more than 30 and at least it was action packed. Anglers were sparse in the Harbor in the afternoon and we did not have enough to go. Wednesday was a washout for us on both trips. Thursday was a special Porgy and Sea Bass trip and other than the light "crowd" it was a success. Contrary to the weather forecast, it was a beautiful day without a drop of rain. It took some time and searching on the morning trip, in less than ideal conditions, but we found the fish. Everyone went home with a good amount of porgies and some sea bass and trigger fish as well for some.  The afternoon was better with constant action and all anglers had a nice bucket of porgies. some sea bass mixed in and some trigger fish. It was a SUCCESS. We will be porgy and sea bass fishing 1/2 day on Mondays & Tuesdays, so come on down and have some fun. Friday was slow on both trips in the keeper area, but the shorts and sea robins provided plenty of action. Today, Sat, was mainly shorts on both trips. Hope to have the Porgy pictures up in a day or so, so check back to see our catch.

UPDATE 7/30

1/2 DAY PORGY & SEA BASS MON & TUES   1/2 DAY FLUKE WED-SUN

Had a great group of folks from the American Legion on our Sunday morning  charter, but as hard as I tried, we could not put a keeper in the boat. The afternoon trip was slightly better on the shorts but non productive on the keepers. Monday's porgy & sea bass trips were awesome even though it took a bit of time to locate the fish on the morning trip. Both trips had very good fishing with plenty of porgies, a few sea bass and even a couple of triggerfish  with all anglers taking home a bag of fillets. If you are looking for action, this is the type of fishing you would enjoy. Our crew will expertly fillet your fish so they are ready for the grill, broiler, oven or frying pan. We will only fish for Porgy & Sea Bass on Mondays & Tuesdays as we are convinced a new body of fluke will arrive soon. So whatever your pleasure, come on down and be part of the Dorothy B. fishing experience. Whether you are pro or novice, adult or child, our crew welcomes you aboard and will help with all your fishing needs.

MONDAY, 7/23 UPDATE

SPECIAL 1/2 DAY PORGIES THIS THURS 7/26  8 AM-12:30PM  &  1:30 PM-6PM

CHARTERED SUNDAY 7/29 8 AM TRIP ONLY   OPEN 1:30 PM TRIP

Last couple of days have been a pick on keeper fluke each trip. Plenty of action with the usual shorts, dogfish and sea robins. Some anglers ar1:30e doing well catching their limits with others catching 1 or 2 keepers and then some with 0 keepers. Out on the morning trip Sat with a good group of anglers, but the strong east winds restricted where we could fish, but we do our best to get on the fish each and every trip. Cancelled the 1:30 pm trip as winds were howling and it would have been impossible to fish. Back at it on Sunday with winds once again restricting fishable areas, but we are making do with what Mother nature throws at us. The morning trip saw a ton of action with a couple of keepers mixed in. High hook was 36 fluke, and most of the small crowd had non stop action. The afternoon trip saw dome decent action in our bay and we picked away at keepers with the light crowd aboard. Down at the dock on Monday but that is where we stayed due to a lack on angler participation. We will try every day, so come on down! Check out the latest pictures in the "photo album" 2018
