WED & THURS 8/23 & 24 UPDATE

1/2 DAY PORGY/SEA BASS EVERYDAY  8 AM-12:30 PM  &  1:30 PM-6 PM

Off to a great start on the 8 am trip and great fishing continued for the entire trip. The 1:30 pm trip had less than desirable conditions and though anglers caught plenty of fish, it was a drastic slowdown from the morning where Jeremy and Jake had buckets lined up for expert filleting by 9:30 am. Check out the pictures from am trip of young Luke, a group shot of Andrew, Mike & Dan with their catch, young Noah, Eric with a winter flounder and Tom holding a "pair of nice porgies".

Today's morning trip was a porgy frenzy with all anglers getting plenty of fish for the table and freezer. The afternoon trip saw good fishing with a mix of nice sea bass, porgies and even some weakfish. This is fun fishing and good eating, so bring the family aboard and climb aboard, you will be glad you did.

TUES 8/22 UPDATE

1/2 DAY PORGY/SEA BASS EVERYDAY  8AM-12:30PM  & 1:30PM-6PM

Excellent fishing continues on the morning trip with some big porgies and a few sea bass in the mix. Check out the latest pics in the photo section of John & John, Nick with a nice sea bass and the "Greek crew" with their catch. Check out the buckets of fish lined up for the expert fish filleting by Jake. Conditions changed considerably for the 1:30 PM trip, making some spots "unfishable", however we still had a decent catch with all anglers going home with fish. It is great family fun and the kids love the action, it is a great way to share family time.

FLUKE UPDATE-THURS-FR-SAT-SUN

1/2 DAY PORGY/SEA BASS/BOTTOM FISH  EVERY DAY  8AM-12:30 PM  &  1:30 PM-6 PM

Went fluking Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Thurs-Yuk!, Fri-Yukky! Sat-Double Yukky!! and then came Sunday (today) which was our best fluke trip of 2017! We had crystal clear sunny skies, warm dry temperatures and perfect conditions for the spot I picked today. I took a chance and took a ride and it was the right decision. We had good action on the shorts and "almost" as well as a considerable number of keepers-check out the photo section for the latest. Young Erik caught 2 keepers and his brother John had 1, which was the pool winner. Kieran and Kat had 4 nice fluke to take home and Amanda and Matt landed 2 fluke. There were a few more caught and though relatively speaking it was a good trip, it was not enough fish for all aboard. I went back to the morning's spot, even though conditions  had changed , it was still the 2nd best trip of the season with shorts and some more keepers. Sharon won the afternoon pool, no pictures of the pm trip, blame Jake and Jeremy.

Starting Monday, we will be PORGY/SEA BASS/BOTTOM FISHING EVERYDAY  2 TRIPS A DAY  8AM-12:30PM  & 1:30PM-6PM

MONDAY-8-21-17 PORGY

1/2 DAY PORGY/SEA BASS EVERYDAY 8 AM-12:30 PM  &  1:30 PM-6 PM

Both morning and afternoon trips for porgies were quite fruitful with all anglers aboard catching plenty of nice sized porgies. Check out the new pictures in the photo album to see young Tyler holding up a pair of big porgies and Lou with a nice Trigger fish as well as several buckets 1/2 full of porgies, and young Brody behind the fish board full of porgies. I am so pleased that there are so many families aboard and the kids are actually fishing and excited, instead of sitting playing on their phones/devices. We had clear skies for those who were interested in the Solar Eclipse, and it did not seem to have any effect on the fishing. Just a reminder that our mates Jake, Jeremy and Sean help you throughout the 4 1/2 hr trip, making your fishing adventure aboard the Dorothy B. a unique one. Jake and Jeremy are artists at filleting the porgies so that you can take them home to bake, broil, fry or grill. It is a lot of work, takes a lot of time and skill and is hard on their hands, so think about the service they provide to you.

MON-WED PORGY UPDATE

1/2 DAY PORGY/SEA BASS MON-TUES-WED  1/2 DAY FLUKE THUR-FRI-SAT-SUN

Excellent Porgy/Sea Bass fishing Mon-Tue-Wed with plenty of action fun and fish for all aboard. Monday morning was a bit "light" on angler participation, but John M. George, Karen and Donna were among so who got in on some great action and took quite  bit of fresh fillets home. The 1:30 pm trip brought out more anglers to get in on some great fishing, current started to wail so we ended the day inside Sandy Hook. Tuesday morning seemed like "Family Day" with several kids aboard. Coach McCray organized a fishing trip sponsored by Project Hope and from all the smiling faces, I think it was a Success. The Grube family was part of today's action, family fun and dinner, can't beat that! Mixed bag of mostly porgies, some sea bass and a couple of weakfish. Good fishing continued on the 1:30 pm trip with some big porgies and a few sea bass. Nick R was out and it may be his last trip of the season as he is "college bound" Good luck and don't forget to hit the books. Paul and Mike were out again and Frank and Bob too, cool picture of young Billy with a couple of his fish. All in all a great day aboard the Dorothy B. On to Wednesday, we had a good gang on both trips even though many were deterred by the weather forecast. Check out the pictures in the photo section and look at the calm seas in the background. It was another good trip with the Tom, Cappy ,Brielle, part of the Wednesday crew, and John F. bringing his family as well as many others who embarked on their fishing adventure with us. The 1:30 PM trip saw a mixed bag again with big porgies, nice sea bass and short & keeper fluke, with Cappy getting the pool with his fluke. Thanks for the venison and fresh produce, tomatoes were excellent and will have eggplant ptarmigan for dinner Friday night.  We will be fluke fishing Thurs-Sunday.
